Meet Pastor Mary

Co-Pastor Mary L. Whitney was born in Savannah, GA to Mr. Alphonso and the late Co-Pastor Lillie Bing.  She was educated in the Chatham County school system, graduating from Tompkins High School.

While in middle school, Co-Pastor Whitney received Christ as her Lord and Savior. Soon after receiving the Lord, she was called to the ministry and delivered her first sermon at the age of 14 and was licensed and ordained at the age 18 years old by the Apostle Dr. Idel Cheever of Pentecostal Miracle Deliverance Center. In her youthful years, Co-Pastor Whitney traveled across the country preaching and teaching the Word of the Lord.  However, when she began to have children, she stopped traveling to raise her children which she believed to be her greater ministry.

In 1994, the Lord led Co-Pastor Whitney to Atlanta, GA where she was nurtured under the leadership of Dr. and Co-Pastor Donald and Gwen Battle of Divine Faith Ministries in Jonesboro, GA.  She attended Divine Faith‘s College, severed in the choir and became the Christian Education Coordinator.  God allowed her to teach and preach to countless numbers while positioned as the New Members Coordinator until 2003.

During this period, God used her to evangelize in Georgia, South Carolina and Lansing, Michigan.  After the death of her brother, Co-Pastor Whitney moved back to Savannah, GA to care for  her parents. After seeking the Lord about a new spiritual home, she was led to Beautiful Zion Church. In 2004, God rewarded her faithfulness with a devoted and loving husband and Great Man of God, Pastor R.A. Whitney Sr.

In 2005, God honored her diligence and exalted her into the office of the Co-Pastor of BZC.  God has used her to be a fellow laborer in the vineyard of Beautiful Zion Church; she has assisted in all areas of ministry and service. She was employed for over 25 years in various areas, with Head Start in Chatham , Dekalb and Rockdale Counties.

Co-Pastor Whitney is the mother of a blended family of six wonderful children, five daughters and one son. Together with her Man of God, they share 15 beautiful and intelligent grandchildren. Co-Pastor’s faith in God has sustained her through difficult times; it is this faith that moves her forward, to obey God in all things and at all times. Her desire is to be a reflection of Christ.
